Every family has one: the recipe that makes Thanksgiving taste like Thanksgiving, the cookies that only come out in December, the dish someone has made for years without ever writing it down. These are the recipes woven into the way we celebrate—the ones that make a holiday table feel like ours.

For this Farm Friday workshop, local food writer Cynthia Nims will explore how to preserve these recipes we return to year after year—and the stories, people, and traditions behind them.

Drawing from her new project, Long Live the Recipe Box, Cynthia will share ideas for capturing unwritten recipes, deciphering old family favorites, and adding the details that help keep them alive for future generations.

Bring a few cherished recipes of your own to share and work with during the afternoon, with a light lunch enjoyed together as part of the day.

Farm Fridays are shorter daytime classes and workshops at Bella Luna Farms, created for those with a little flexibility in their Friday schedule. Each one will focus on a particular skill, subject, or seasonal project, with plenty of time to learn, take part, and enjoy being at the Farm.

Guests are invited to arrive at 10:30 am for coffee or tea before class begins at 11:00 am. Enjoy a light lunch featuring what you’ve made together during the class before wrapping up at approximately 2:00 pm.
