Recipes are more than ingredients and instructions. They carry the people, places, traditions, and memories that shape our lives, often becoming treasured pieces of family history in their own right.

For this Farm Friday workshop, local food writer Cynthia Nims will lead a thoughtful and engaging exploration of how we can preserve not only the recipes we love, but the stories that give them meaning.

Drawing from her new project, Long Live the Recipe Box, Cynthia will share ideas for gathering recipes that have never been written down, deciphering and filling in the gaps of well-loved family recipes, and giving old favorites enough context that future generations can actually cook from them. Together, we’ll consider how recipes can remain living traditions, made, shared, adapted, and passed along, rather than simply tucked away as keepsakes.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a few cherished recipes from their own collections to share in the conversation and use during workshop activities. A light lunch will be served as part of the afternoon. Attendees will leave with practical ideas and inspiration for preserving and sharing the recipes, stories, and memories that matter most.

Farm Fridays are shorter daytime classes and workshops at Bella Luna Farms, created for those with a little flexibility in their Friday schedule. Each one will focus on a particular skill, subject, or seasonal project, with plenty of time to learn, take part, and enjoy being at the Farm.

Guests are invited to arrive at 10:30 am for coffee or tea before class begins at 11:00 am. Enjoy a light lunch featuring what you’ve made together during the class before wrapping up at approximately 2:00 pm.
